About Kim
Hi, I'm Kim. I'm a mom to a little one who starts kindergarten next year, and somewhere between washing bottles and packing snack cups I started paying more attention to what our kitchen was made of.
It started small. Our nonstick pan was scratched, so I read about what to replace it with. Then I noticed our plastic containers had gone cloudy from the microwave. Then I wondered about our tap water. Each question led to another, and a lot of what I found online was either a sales pitch or a scare story.
This site is my attempt at the middle ground. I write up what I learned while making swaps in my own home, I explain the trade-offs, and I say so when the research is unsettled. You don't need to throw out your kitchen. Most families do best by replacing things as they wear out, starting with the items that touch food and heat every day.
What you can expect here
- Materials first. I recommend products based on what they're made of, published research and guidance, and patterns across lots of buyer reviews.
- No made-up testing. I don't run a lab. When I mention a certification (like NSF/ANSI for water filters), I tell you to check it on the certifier's own site.
- No medical advice. I'm a parent, not a doctor or toxicologist. If you have a health concern, please talk to your pediatrician or doctor.
- Honest affiliate links. Some links earn me a small commission. It never changes your price, and it doesn't decide what I recommend. See the disclosure.
I also run LincsLittleLoves, a sister site about non-toxic baby and toddler gear and screen-free play. If you want to say hi or suggest a guide, the contact page has my email.
